The Beaches International Jazz Festival is one of the largest jazz festivals in North America. It is a highly visible and well-publicized event, drawing close to one million visitors from around the world. The BIJF web site features information about participating artists and provides links to their own web sites - a great plus given that we received over 25 million hits on our web site in the 2007 season alone! BIJF is committed to showcasing both established and emerging talent. Artists wishing to perform at our festival are welcome to send us a press kit including the following items:

- a covering letter
- a bio
- digital photo(s) shot at the highest resolution possible; alternatively, B/W or Colour Photo(s) which we will scan @ 300 dpi
- a web page / website link (optional - but strongly encouraged!)
- a WAV, AVI or MP3 demo sound track (optional) to be available for download as part of a band / performer's bio
- a demo CD or Tape

We accept submissions from October 1, 2007 to February 1, 2008 and they can be sent to our office at...

Exposure for Canadian performing artists and their music is an important component of the Festival's programming vision. Canadian artists generally represent over 95% of the Festival's programming. The Festival has had a significant impact on the lives of many of the musicians that have participated in the event. A quick review of any festival program from years gone by indicates the names of performers who have gone on to become established award winning artists on both the Canadian and international jazz music scene.

On an individual basis no artist could replicate the synergy and public exposure generated by this event.

Artists and ensembles are selected either through auditions, by submitting demo tapes, or by referral from acknowledged experts in jazz. Information regarding participation is disseminated through Socan, The Music Directory and other publications and music organizations.

Inclusion in the Festival line-up is not automatic. There is artistic control placed over the publicized featured KEW GARDENS and Woodbine Park stage artists. Most are chosen not only for the caliber of music that's presented but for their impact or contribution to the Canadian jazz music scene.

In addition to receiving an appearance fee at the Festival, individual artists or jazz bands that strike a chord with their listeners can sell their CDs directly to their audience. The BIJF does not take a percentage of the sales proceeds from CDs sold by performing bands and artists at the Festival.
Biographic information regarding each participating artist is available in the festival program and this website.
